DTF & DTG Printers for Custom Apparel

DTF and DTG both decorate garments digitally, with no screens, no setup, and no minimum order — but they get there differently, and the difference decides which one fits your shop.

DTF prints the design onto transfer film, coats it with adhesive powder, and cures it. The finished transfer sits on the shelf until you press it. Because the adhesive does the bonding, DTF works on cotton, polyester, blends, nylon, and dark fabrics without pretreatment — and it presses onto bags, caps, and shoes as readily as onto shirts. Transfers can be produced in batches and applied later, which suits fulfillment operations and events.

DTG prints ink directly into the garment. On cotton it delivers photographic detail and a soft hand that no transfer can match, which is why it remains the choice for retail-quality apparel and complex artwork. It needs pretreatment on dark garments and works best on cotton and high-cotton blends.

Most shops running high mix and varied substrates start with DTF. Shops focused on cotton apparel where print quality is the selling point choose DTG. Running both is common.
